Marshall calls for improvements ahead of Fax’s crunch clash with Toulouse

Halifax boss Richard Marshall has ordered his side to be more clinical with their opportunities when they take on Toulouse Olympique on Saturday.

Both teams come into the game on the same amount of points and with three games remaining of the regular season, the outcome of Saturday’s contest could be the difference between Qualifiers and Championship Shield rugby.

Marshall’s men beat Bradford Bulls 20-18 at the MBi Shay on Saturday but the Fax coach thought the scoreline didn’t tell the full story.

“You will look at the result and think it was a hard, tight contest,” he told halifaxcourier.co.uk

“I didn’t think it was; I thought we were dominant for large parts of the game.

“But we weren’t in the last 10-15 minutes and if it had gone for another two minutes we might have been in a position where we had lost.”

The former England Academy boss admitted if the West Yorkshire club repeat certain aspects of their last performance when they take on Toulouse, his chargers will end up disappointed.

“We started well (against Bradford), but we bombed three clear cut chances in that first half and turned the ball over three times on tackle one,” Marshall added.

“Next week in France, when it’s 80 degrees, you are not going to come away with anything if you do that.

“We talk about learning and developing, but this week we really need to take all those experiences we have had this season and the lessons from them and roll them up into one big performance.”
