The Longest Try in Rugby League history

Longest Try Rugby

Englishman Robbie Dolan will attempt to score The Longest Try in the history of Rugby League when he runs 1,800km in 42 days from Melbourne to Brisbane during this year’s World Cup.

Robbie has played League for 17 years and currently plies his trade for the Bedford Tigers. In 2011, he decided to enter his first marathon, then very soon afterwards began to run in ultramarathons.

In a unique twist, the 33-year-old has combined the two sports where he will attempt to run an average of 50km a day through Victoria, New South Wales and into Queensland, all while carrying a Rugby League ball.

He will be in a race to make it to the Rugby League World Cup Final to score a try at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on December 2 – completing the longest five tackles in history.

Kicking off from Melbourne’s AAMI Park, Robbie will then go onto Canberra’s GIO Stadium, Sydney’s ANZ Stadium, Newcastle’s Hunter Stadium, Coffs Harbour International Stadium and finally Suncorp Stadium.

While doing this, he will promote the international game, health and most importantly raise money for partner charities Live to Give Projects and Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity.
