Lockers set to turn down Rhinos to stay at Wigan

Wigan Warriors injuries

England Captain Sean O’Loughlin has said he wants to stay at Wigan next season and is likely to turn down an offer to join Leeds .

The Rhinos interest in the 35 year was a surprise but the interest was genuine and it’s rumoured that they were prepared to offer more than the Warriors .

Whilst nothing has been agreed O’Loughlin , currently with the England squad preparing for the 3 test series against New Zealand , has stated that his wish is to remain with Wigan and retire a one club man . New Wigan head coach Adrian Lam had already stated he wanted the loose forward to remain at the club as captain .

‘Lockers’ has played for his hometown club since 2002 and has won 4 Grand Finals , 2 Challenge cups , 2 League Leaders Shields and a World Club Challenge in his time as Captain of the club .

The delay in signing a new deal at Wigan hasn’t worried the England captain with him telling Sky Sports News  “I’ll hopefully get it sorted soon. I am staying at Wigan hopefully so this is just where I am in my career. This tends to get sorted at the end of the season rather than the beginning.”

O’Loughlin was speaking ahead of the series against the Kiwis who are now coached by his former boss Michael McGuire , who was at the DW Stadium in 2010 and 2011 winning all 3 domestic honours in his time there .
