Little Hope For Super League in the World Club Series?

NRL Round 11 Preview

We asked a few Rugby League personalities for their views on the two World Club Series games and were given some mixed opinions. Consensus seems to go with Brisbane tonight but there is hope out there that Wigan can become World Club Champions tomorrow.

First up ex-Great Britain and Leeds Rhinos centre Keith Senior told SARL: “Tonight I fancy the Broncos but Ben Westwood to score a try. I think there’ll be more than the 42 points line.

“As for tomorrow I fancy under 40 points with Wigan to win and Joe Burgess to score.”

Ex-Wales and Widnes prop Jim Mills he told us: “There is not too much form to go on in a game like this, but there is always an advantage for the English teams with the Australian teams travelling. I think Brisbane will beat Warrington and Wigan will beat Cronulla, but I don’t think there will be more than a 10 points margin in either.”

Former Hull and Wakefield Half Back Kevin Harkin was next to offer his view: “I can’t see anything else but wins for the Aussies. Our game is too predictable. Instead of letting kids go out and show their natural abilities they have to play set patterns, so we don’t produce the great footballers we used to. I fancy Brisbane to beat Warrington 24-12 and Cronulla to beat Wigan 20-8. I’d take the two NRL sides to win by 12. Sorry for being boring but I think Super League has stagnated over the last few year with the five tackle and a kick brigade.

We interrupted Toronto Wolfpack Head Coach Paul Rowley’s little winter break for his view and he told SARL: “I think the NRL clubs will win both games.”

The World Club Series kicks off with Warrington v Brisbane tonight followed by the World Club Challenge between Wigan and Cronulla tomorrow.
