Centurions 2/1 to beat winless Wire

Higson high tackle

The Sky cameras are in Leigh tonight where local rivals Warrington are the visitors.

You wouldn’t have thought the Centurions would be four points ahead of tonight’s visitors, even at this stage of the season, as the Wolves have had a nightmare start to 2017.

A heavy defeat to Wigan last week made it four defeats from their first four games and defeat tonight at Leigh Sports Village will really start the alarm bells ringing at Warrington. Leigh on the other hand would have settled for their two wins from five games start, as they begin to find their feet in the big time.

In fact the Centurions have now won their last two at home having beaten Saints and Huddersfield, and whilst it’s still early days, there are only 19 more games till the league splits so Warrington have to start winning soon.

Wire are boosted by the return of the influential Chris Hill, who started his career at Leigh, whilst the hosts will be given a lift with Glenn Stewart returning to the fold.

There’s no doubt Hill’s return will give Tony Smith’s side a real boost as they go in search of their first win of the season, but it won’t be easy as Leigh nilled Huddersfield at home last week.

The Centurions could easily have a 100 percent home record as they were unlucky to lose against Leeds and Super League sponsors Betfred give the hosts an 8-point start on the handicap.

On form alone you wouldn’t fancy Wire to win this by more than 8 points, they were shocking on their last road trip at Salford a fortnight ago,  but surely the Warrington side that beat Brisbane last month will turn up eventually?

The Wire may just get home but surely the value is in the hosts on the handicap, Leigh have been very hard to beat at home, they won both their home games against Super League opposition in the middle 8s last year and their only loss at home this year, against Leeds, was by less than tonight’s handicap.

It’s 2/1 for a home win which sounds like good value given the form, but surely taking the extra insurance on the handicap is the safer ploy.

You certainly can’t fancy Warrington at a very short 2/5 to win this as it really could go either way. If pushed I would take Warrington to win by 1-5 but neither result would be a surprise.

If you do fancy an away win the 2/5 can be boosted to 10/11 on the Half Time Full Time.

Plenty of alternative handicaps at Betfred,  it’s 9/4 for Warrington conceding 16 start or 5/2 Leigh getting a 4-point start.

Adam Higson scored for the Centurions in the win over Huddersfield and he is 8/1 to score the 1st try tonight, the same price as Matty Dawson.

Tom Lineham heads the list in Primrose and Blue at 6/1 but I’d prefer 10/1 Ryan Atkins, who scored against Wigan seven days ago.

Don’t forget Betfred double your first try odds if your player goes on to score a second try, as Liam Marshall did for Wigan last week, please check T&C’s.

Anytime try bets last the whole 80 minutes and Sam Hopkins looks overpriced at 7/1 given the 13 tries he scored last season, albeit in the lower league.

Check back for Leeds v Wakefield tomorrow. As always please gamble responsibly.
