Leigh duo suspended; Brough found guilty of dangerous contact

Super League player charges

Leigh Centurions pair Matty Dawson-Jones and Peter Mata’utia will miss their side’s next five matches while Huddersfield Giants half-back Danny Brough has been found guilty of a Grade B dangerous contact charge.

Dawson-Jones pleaded guilty to the Grade E charge of ‘questioning the integrity of an official’ while Mata’utia, who already knew he had a one-game penalty notice for a high tackle, was given a further four-match ban for a ‘dangerous throw’ on Matt Parcell.

Brough pleaded not guilty to a Grade B dangerous contact charge but was found guilty by the panel.

The initial two-match ban has been upgraded to three after the panel felt Brough’s ‘not guilty’ plea “was an unreasonable challenge of the charge.”

The following players accepted penalty notices..

Steve Tyrer (Halifax RLFC) – Grade B Trip, 1 match penalty notice

Kieron Dixon (London Broncos) – Grade B High Tackle, 1 match penalty notice

Scott Law (Keighley Cougars) – Grade A High Tackle, no further action

Vinny Finigan (London Skolars) – Grade C Dangerous Lift, 2 match penalty notice

Reiss Butterworth (Batley Bulldogs) – Grade B Foul & Abusive Language to a MO, 1 match penalty notice

Anthony Mullally (Leeds Rhinos) – Grade A Raising knee in tackle, 1 match penalty notice
