Leigh Centurions v Catalans Dragons: Preview

Leigh Centurions v Catalans Dragons

Leigh Centurions play host to the Catalans Dragons in a game that both sides will aim to win after picking up home defeats last time out. The Centurions fell to a 37-24 defeat at the hands of 11th placed Widnes where the Dragons lost 38-18 against Wakefield in Perpignan.

Neil Jukes side come into the game with three wins from eight games so far, with their last two losses to Wakefield and Widnes halting any previous momentum. Having beaten the likes of St Helens and Warrington at the Leigh Sports Village, their loss to the Vikings last week was a shock to many supporters.

The Centurions welcome back Curtis Naughton, Glenn Stewart and Gregg McNally for this one, they replace the suspended Jamie Acton and injured duo Adam Higson and Josh Drinkwater after they picked up knocks last week.

Catalans visit the North-West England with four losses and one draw from their last five, a worrying period of form for the French outfit who started the season so promisingly. Since losing forward general Greg Bird to injury, the Dragons have looked clueless in defence and will look to show some fight and commitment when they travel to Greater Manchester for Friday night’s game.

The Dragons have only named an 18-man squad as they await the result of an appeal made by Tony Gigot against a ban for his behaviour towards a doping official. Other than this, the Dragons welcome back Brayden Wiliame and Thibaut Margalet, who replace the injured Fouad Yaha and Justin Horo.

Leigh Squad: Naughton, Brown, Crooks, Dawson, Ridyard, Hock, Higham, Stewart, Hansen, Pelissier, Tickle, Vea, McNally, Hampshire, Reynolds, Hood, Green, Hopkins, Burr.

Catalans Squad: Inu, Wiliame, Walsh, Myler, Moa, Aiton, Casty, Anderson, Bousquet, Garcia, Baitieri, Duport, Simon, Burgess, Thornley, Albert, Da Costa, Margalet.
