Leeds in Lockers link

Wigan captain Sean O’Loughlin has been linked with a sensational move to their super league rivals Leeds .

The England captain is out of contract at the end of this year and it was assumed he’d take up the option of an extra year which also included a place on the coaching staff in 2020 . The Rhinos though have been alerted by news that the extra year option has not yet been signed and the 4 time Grand Final winner is technically now out of contract .

There is confusion in the reason for the delay in signing a new deal at the DW Stadium and the Rhinos are ready to step in with an improved offer for the 35 year old who has played over 400 games in Cherry and White .

There is no secret that Leeds lack a leader both on the field and in the dressing room and Kevin Sinfield , who he played alongside with England , believes Lockers could be just the man as they look to put a disastrous 2018 behind them . New club coach David Furner also played with O’Lpughlin back in his Wiigan days .

New Wigan coach Adrian Lam is believed to want Lockers to stay on as captain and even if he did become available Leeds would face stiff competition from Toronto who are said to be monitoring the situation .

O’Loughlin was again selected for the dream team this year , the 7th tine he’s been picked and there’s no doubt he would add experience to an exciting young Rhinos squad .

With John Bateman , Sam Tomkins and Coach Shaun Wane all leaving the DW this winter you would expect Wigan will do all they can to keep hold of their legendary captain .
