Kiwi international man-handled at junior league game

New Zealand international Dallin Watene-Zelezniak was caught up in a scuffle while helping out at St Mary’s Junior Rugby League Club this morning.

The Kiwis star was running the touchline during one of the junior matches when a decision led to him been attacked by the St Mary’s trainer.

A witness said: “Dallin was doing the touchline when one of the St Mary’s kids was tackled over the line, so he put the flag up.

“The ref didn’t notice so he put the flag up again, only for the St Mary’s trainer to take offence and start calling Dallin a cheat.

“It then turned into all out war and we had to take the kids over the other side of the field. A man had his hands around Dallin’s throat and naturally he retaliated and grabbed him back.

“It was very ugly and went on for about 10 minutes. The St Mary’s trainer was eventually ejected from the ground.”

It is believed that the whole episode was captured on tape and will be looked at by the club and possibly the NRL, should they wish to review the incident.
