Leeds forward to miss rest of season

Keith Galloway injury

Keith Galloway will miss the rest of the Super League season after rupturing his Achilles tendon against Hull FC on Friday.

The Australian, 31, suffered the same injury on his other leg at the end of the 2016 season and only returned to the field three months.

Galloway took to Twitter yesterday to inform the Leeds Rhinos fans of his latest setback.

“Unfortunately I have ruptured my Achilles tendon in the game last night,” he said. “It’s a bitter pill to swallow as I had worked hard to come back from rupturing the other Achilles at the end of last season.

“Gutted, bit I guess there is a lot worse things that can happen in this world. Looking forward to cheering on the boys for the rest of the season. Thanks for all the support and I’ll work to overcome this again.”

Leeds head coach Brian McDermott commented on Galloway’s injury: “We really missed him against Hull and we’re going to miss the ultimate professional he is for the rest of the season.”

The Rhinos currently sit second in Super League and play their last regular season match against Wigan at the DW Stadium on Friday night.
