Warrington CEO: We’re a top four club

Warrington Chief Executive Karl Fitzpatrick says their 2017 season has not been acceptable as they prepare to take part in the Qualifiers.

Last season’s league leaders have endured a nightmare year and despite recent wins against Leigh and Wigan, the Wolves have failed to make the competition’s top eight before the split.

“Where we are at the moment is not acceptable,” said Fitzpatrick. “We see ourselves as a top four club, so I’m not going to dress it up. Our performances this season have not been acceptable.”

Tony Smith’s side will face the rest of Super League’s bottom four and the Championship’s top four in the Qualifiers, with their Super League status on the line.

Despite this, Warrington are the clear favourites to finish top of the ‘middle 8s’ and the Wolves CEO says it’s now time for everyone to roll up their sleeves.

“Our poor season has affected everyone right the way through the club and made it a difficult year for everybody.

“However, we can’t just throw our hands up in the air and say we can’t do nothing about it. Everyone at the club needs to work hard and turn things around and that’s what we’ll do.”
