James Roberts avoids punishment

Brisbane Broncos centre James Roberts will, for now, not face any disciplinary action after he was accused of pulling a girls hair in a Gold Coast nightclub.

The NRL Integrity Unit has determined that no action will be taken against the 23-year-old, but the matter will remain open in case any further evidence becomes available.

Head of Integrity Nick Weeks revealed that nightclub operators had refused to allow the NRL to look at any footage from the evening that the incident was supposed to have taken place.

Mr Weeks said that the Brisbane Broncos and James Roberts had co-operated throughout the investigation and in a brief statement outlined why no action would be taken against the former Titans star.

“We need to judge the case on the facts available to us and, at this time, there is insufficient evidence to take disciplinary action against James,” Mr Weeks said.
