Hull slight favourites to beat Wigan

Hull FC 26-24 Castleford Tigers

It’s like old times with  live Super League from this side of the channel on a Saturday night as Wigan make the long trek to Hull.
Unlike the Leeds v Leigh game this game definitely gets the live TV treatment but it’s the only live game on this weekend.

Wigan have won their last 8 games away to FC and given the team news coming out of the KCOM they’ll be looking to make that 9.
Griffin, Watts, Taylor, Fonua, Ellis and Sneyd are all missing for FC who started the week around 4/7 favourites to win this before the team news was announced.
The Warriors injury woes are slowly clearing up with Joel Tomkins and Liam Forsythi back to take on the black and whites.

Wigan were available at 11/8 earlier in the week but most books have both sides around 10/11 to get the 2 points and I expect Wigan to be around 2 point favourites by kick off as they are still being backed.

Given the team news this is a tough game to  call, both sides are on a 3 game losing streak. Whilst the Warriors were throwing a 20 point lead away at home to Wakefield on Monday, Hull were being unlucky losers in France.
With this being the 3rd game in a week for both sides you have to think a long trip to Perpignan on Monday could ultimately cost FC here.

Another defeat for Shaun Wane’s side could see the top 4 out of reach, in fact it could lead to a battle to escape the middle 8 rather than a quest to reach Old Trafford.
With what happened to Leeds last year no one can afford to be complacent and I can’t see Wigan putting on a shambles of a defensive display like the one 5 days ago.

With key players missing for both sides  you have to favour the visitors, both sides will have youngsters in the side but the Warriors kids have been playing in Super League for most of the season and that could just give them the edge to win this by around 6-10 points.
Sneyds kicking game will be a huge loss and without Ellis, Taylor and Watts FC are missing some real power in the pack., and when you add to this Wigan’s record at the KCOM you have to just favour the Warriors.

Burgess and Marshall head 1st try betting at around 10/1,  I’d just favour Marshall with Burgess likely to be playing in the centres.
Talanoa would be my pick in black and white at 14/1.

George Williams has gone off the boil in recent weeks but this could be the right occasion for him to get back his form so he’d by my choice for man of the match alongside Albert Kelly. With his half back partner missing there’s more pressure on Kelly and I just favour him over talisman Danny Houghton.

Wigan are on Sky again next Thursday as they travel to Leigh, as always please gamble responsibly.
