English Lion Hodgson to Captain Raiders

Canberra Raiders have announced that England international hooker Josh Hodgson will captain the side whilst the regular skipper Jarrod Croker recovers from a knee injury picked up in last week’s All Stars game.

Hodgson joined the Raiders from Hull KR in 2014 and has spent the last two seasons in the NRL.

The 27-year-old was the club’s stand-out player last season as they got to within one game of the Grand Final. He also made it into the top 10 of the Dally M Medal rankings, leading the way for a large part of the season.

Altogether he has made 49 appearances for Canberra scoring 7 tries, he will also have a major part to play in England’s bid to win the World Cup down under in November.

Hodgson takes the captaincy for the first time in Saturday’s pre season trial game against the Knights. Croker is expected to be out for five weeks.
