Gildart to replace Burgess in Test squad

Gildart injury

England Coach Wayne Bennett has called up Wigan Warriors centre Oliver Gildart to the England squad as a replacement for Sam Burgess who pulled out last week .

22 year old Gildart , who was the young player of the year in 2017 and has been a regular in the Warriors side this season ,  was originally named in the Knights squad but earned his promotion on the back of some impressive performances as he’s helped his side reach Saturday’s Grand Final against Warrington .

England play a one off test against France next week before a 3 test series against New Zealand which starts later in the month . Gildart will be hoping to win his 1st cap during the Autumn series but it’s likely the team against France will consist mainly of players who won’t feature in this weekends Old Trafford showpiece .

Salford star Niall Evalds has been called up to the Knights squad to replace Gildart and Tom Lineham is in as a replacement for Greg Minikin who has pulled out through injury , the Knights will play a 2 test series against Papua New Guinea .

Bennett will announce a replacement for Luke Gale , who pulled out of the England squad yesterday , next week .
