Gildart highlights Huddersfield’s “big two” ahead of important match

Widnes Vikings 26-28 Wigan Warriors

Wigan Warriors centre Oliver Gildart has pointed out Huddersfield Giants’ “big two” danger men as Leroy Cudjoe and Jermaine McGillvary ahead of tonight’s match between the teams.

In an interview with Wigan Today, Gildart – who made his 50th Wigan appearance last week – also said that Wembley is an exciting prospect but there is work to be done before then.

With Wigan and Huddersfield both four points shy of the top four in the Super 8s, both sides will be eyeing up a key victory as they try to improve their bid for a semi-final spot.

“Wembley is exciting, but given the position we’re in in the league, we’ve got work to do,” said the centre.

“It’s not like we’re on top. It’s not a good feeling, usually we’re up there and everything is a bit more relaxed.”

There has been nothing to separate the teams in their past two matches thanks to 16-16 and 19-19 scores.

Gildart and winger Joe Burgess will go head-to-head with Cudjoe and McGillvary, which could prove to be an entertaining battle.

“They’re (McGillvary and Cudjoe) the big two,” Gildart added.

“They get their sets going for them, and if you give Cudjoe a bit of space, he’s hard to handle.”
