England forward George Burgess is expected to be given a lengthy ban for elbowing Newcastle Knights player Mitchell Barnett during yesterday’s NRL game.
Frustration boiled over for Burgess after dropping the ball for the second time from a Knights kick-off, leading to him lashing out with the elbow on Barnett.
South Sydney went onto win the game 24-18, but George will now face the NRL judiciary and is expected to receive a long suspension following the unsavoury incident.
