Featherstone clear favourites in all-Championship tie

Super League Sponsors Betfred make Featherstone 4/11 favourites to beat Halifax in Thursday’s live Challenge Cup clash.

Halifax are 11/5 to pull off an away win and book a place in the quarter-final final draw. Rovers won a close game between these two in the league back in February, but that was at Halifax and this time Featherstone have home advantage.

There’s not much between the two sides in the league with Rovers two points ahead of tonight’s opponents. There is nothing between the two on form either as both sides have only lost to leaders Hull KR in their last seven games.

All this goes to suggest that this could be a close high scoring affair, with maybe going over on total points being where the value lies.

Halifax get an 8-point start on the handicap in a game where there could only be a try in it either way, I think Rovers may just nick it but by the minimum 1 to 5 points.

First try-scorer market sees Luke Briscoe just favourite at around 10/1. Ian Hardman and Rob Worrincy would be my picks at around 12/1, although it could be better value in the anytime try market.

Steve Tyrer has scored 11 tries in 13 games and looks great value at around 7/4 to score a try anytime in the game.

Scott Murrell looks good 10/1 value to be man of the match, as does 8/1 favourite Cory Aston, halves usually do well for the bubbly in cup games.

Repeat of the dramatic Million Pound Game tomorrow as Hull KR travel to Salford.

As always, please gamble responsibly.
