Ex Trinity Coach Agar to join Rhinos Development team

Super League side Leeds Rhinos have announced they have recruited former Wakefield and Hull FC Coach Richard Agar as the clubs head of player and coach development .

Agar has been with NRL side St George Illawarra Dragons for the past 12 months as their head of player pathways but has been tempted back to Super League to take on a new role the Rhinos have created to oversee the Youth and Women’s academies at Headingley .

Leeds director of Rugby Kevin Sinfield is delighted to have such an experienced head on board telling the club’s website  “Richard is an ideal candidate for this new position given his vast experience both in Super League and over in the NRL. Our player development programme is vital to our progress as a club and having a person of the calibre of Richard overseeing that is a major boost for the Rhinos.”

Agar himself added   “I am delighted to be joining the Rhinos. I would like to thank everyone at St George Illawarra for the support they have given me and I am looking forward to this new challenge with Leeds.”

The new role highlights the importance the club have now put on the development and acquisition of young talent at Mens and Women’s elite level .
