South Sydney Rabbitohs 18-34 Wests Tigers

Report

Wests Tigers were too good for South Sydney at ANZ Stadium as an inspired James Tedesco display consigned Robbie Farah to defeat against his old team.

Souths opened the scoring when quick hands from Greg Inglis found Bryson Goodwin out wide, he stepped inside Tedesco to cross for the first points.

Unfortunately, Inglis suffered a knee injury shortly after this, playing on for an hour of the game before he had no choice but to leave the field.

Farah then made a mistake and this sparked his old team-mates into life as prop Ava Seumanufagai went in for a try after good work from Aaron Woods.

Despite Sam Burgess putting a huge shot on Elijah Taylor, it was the Tigers who looked more likely to score points and they soon did just that.

Dazzling full-back Tedesco beating four Rabbitohs defenders to force his way to the line before setting up Chris Lawrence three minutes later.

Inglis looked to be in pain but this didn’t stop him getting Souths back in the game, taking Cody Walker’s kick to reduce the deficit to 8-18 at half-time.

Wests started the second half on fire as debutant Moses Suli found Tedesco, he linked with Mitchell Moses who raced clear to score under the posts.

The lead was out to 26 points moments later as Luke Brookes and the impressive Suli went in to the disbelief of Rabbitohs’ Burrow faithful.

Souths scored the final two tries as Goodwin got a well-deserved hat-trick, but the match belonged to Tedesco and the Tigers who were the much better team on the night.
