Featherstone Rovers booked their place in this season’s Qualifiers with a 32-14 win over Oldham at Bower Fold. It will be the West Yorkshire side’s second straight appearance in the middle eights and they will be eager to do better than last year when they were failed to win a single game. The Rovers were 16-4 up at the break in this one and didn’t really look like relinquishing their advantage.
Josh Hardcastle opened the scoring after 14 minutes, moments before fellow centre Chris Ulugia also crossed the whitewash for the Rovers. James Lockwood and Matt Wilkinson swapped tries for the visitors and hosts as the half came to a close.
Scott Turner and Luke Briscoe both notch four pointers for the Rovers as they furthered their lead to 22 points before the Roughyeds’ Sadiq Adebiyi touched down. Anthony Thackeray and George Tyson exchanged four pointers in the dying embers of the contest as Featherstone started to celebrate their guaranteed top four finish.
