England to play World Cup warm-up match in Perth

Rugby League rep review

Jamie Peacock has confirmed that England will play a warm-up match in Perth before the World Cup opener against Australia.

There will be a 10-day training camp ahead of the match against the Kangaroos on October 28, this will include a fixture against an Affiliated States Championship side, a competition consisting of players from Victoria, South Australia, Northern Territory and Western Australia.

National team manager Peacock stayed on in Australia after England’s 30-10 victory over Samoa in Sydney last Saturday to finalise preparations for the World Cup.

“I’ve been to six airports in six days – Sydney, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Melbourne and Perth – to check out all the hotels, venues and training facilities we’re going to be using in the World Cup and every possible route England could go down,” said Peacock.

He added: “It’s just making sure everything is right, all the t’s crossed and i’s dotted and everything is looking good.”
