Hull FC forward Gareth Ellis will retire at the end of this season, it has been confirmed today.
The captain of the East Yorkshire club will be hoping to end his distinguished career on a high with Lee Radford’s men capable of completing the double of Super League and Challenge Cup triumphs.
It has been a superb career for Ellis, highly rated by coaches, fans and peers alike.
Starting his career at Wakefield Trinity in 1999, the back-rower went on to play for Leeds Rhinos and Wests Tigers before moving to Hull FC in 2013.
To go alongside his club career, Ellis also made 17 appearances for Great Britain and 16 games for England.
Ellis will become Hull’s new football manager in 2018, replacing Motu Tony.
