Dean Pay interviewed for Warrington job

Canberra Raiders’ assistant coach Dean Pay has entered the running for the Warrington job after he was interviewed for the position along with several other coaches.

Wolves’ chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick is currently Down Under as the club look to appoint a successor to the departing Tony Smith.

Pay has been assistant to Ricky Stuart at both Parramatta and Canberra and has had success coaching the New South Wales U20s.

He was also Catalans Dragons’ assistant coach under Kevin Walters in 2009, before linking up with the Melbourne Storm’s NYC team.

Penrith assistant coach Garth Brennan remains the favourite to take over at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, with Betfred pricing him at 5/4.

However, Pay’s odds have been slashed and he is now the 2/1 second favourite to take over the Cheshire outfit.

Michael Maguire and Bradford coach Geoff Toovey remain in the frame at 6/1, with former Super League players David Furner and Jason Demetriou available at 7/1.
