Carney charge adjourned on request

Carney eight-match ban

Justin Carney’s Grade F charge for alleged “verbal abuse based on race/colour” has been adjourned until next week following a request from the Salford Red Devils.

The club have proposed the player will not compete in any fixture before his case his heard and the request was granted by the Chairman of the Operational Rules Tribunal.

Carney was sent off for the alleged slur during Sunday’s Challenge Cup clash with reports suggesting it was aimed at Toronto prop Ryan Bailey.

Grade F is the most severe level a player can receive and if found guilty, the winger potentially faces a minimum eight-match suspension.
