Burgess pulls out of England squad

South Sydney Rabbitohs forward Sam Burgess is set to miss the end of season internationals against France and New Zealand as he needs shoulder and wrist surgery .

The star forward who has played 23 times for England issued a statement on the clubs website saying

“I’m gutted that I have had to withdraw from these matches as I love playing for my country and it is a great honour.

“The reality of the situation is that it’s imperative that I get these surgeries done, and with a view to the next three or four years, I need to get them done now.
“I’ll be watching on from Australia and cheering on England against France and New Zealand, and I’m sure the team will do England proud.”

Instead of flying over to England  with his brothers Tom and George , Sam will now remain in Australia to have the much needed surgery .

Burgess played in last years World Cup Final and then had a long season with his club reaching the NRL semi finals and feels now is the best time to have the surgery done .
