Bizarre incident sees police and paramedics called to home of troubled NRL star

Sydney Roosters star Blake Ferguson has again been caught up in a controversy after police and paramedics were called to his home in the early hours of Thursday morning.

It is understood that Rugby League bad boy Paul Carter wanted to meet up with Ferguson in a pub, but Ferguson, who is caring for his children while his partner is in Bali, instead invited Carter to his home.

The pair had been drinking before Ferguson is said to have asked Carter to leave around 3am, only to wake up to find police at his door two hours later.

Reports claim Carter told police that Ferguson’s one-year-old child had been drugged but ambulance officers were comfortable this had not happened after checking both of his sons.

This bizarre incident has left many scratching their heads and it seems that Ferguson has been cleared of any wrongdoing by Roosters chairman Nick Politis.

“He should have said no (to Carter coming over),” said Politis. “He should have said forget it. I have talked to him about his kids and his responsibilities in life.

“With all the incidents (he has been involved in previously) there is nothing with malice. It is just stupid things. Sometimes he doesn’t make the right decisions but I think he is learning, hopefully.”

Ferguson’s manager, Sam Ayoub, added: “He is not at fault. It’s an unfortunate situation that he has been caught in the middle of.

“He let a mate in for a few drinks and that is all. Blake is extremely upset about what has happened because he has done nothing wrong.”

Ferguson is never far away from the headlines and was at the centre of a scandal during State of Origin when he went out drinking with Josh Dugan.

The other man at the centre of this latest drama, Paul Carter, was sacked by the Roosters in June and recently pleaded guilty to supplying cocaine to ex-teammate Shaun Kenny Dowall.

Carter played out the remainder of the 2017 season with Coffs Harbour Comets and is unlikely to ever resurrect his professional league career after numerous transgressions.
