Beaumont: I won’t sack Jukes

Derek Beaumont fined

Leigh owner Derek Beaumont has reiterated that the club’s head coach Neil Jukes will not be sacked this season.

During their first season back in Super League for 11 years, the Centurions have only won five games with a minority of supporters calling for Jukes to be sacked.

However, Beaumont has again stuck to his guns and insisted on a Leigh Facebook fan page that he will stick by the man that led the club to promotion last year.

“May I please use this page to put some people out of their misery,” he said. “As I have said countless times I will not sack Neil Jukes pure and simple.

“Can I respectfully request you support him and the lads and if you choose not to as is your prerogative, can I respectfully request you leave those that wish to support them to get on with it until it’s over.

“Many thanks in anticipation of your cooperation and a humongous respect and appreciation to all of you showing your support x God bless.”

Leigh host Salford tonight knowing they must win to jump above Widnes and avoid finishing the regular season bottom of the Super League table.

Following this, the Centurions will enter the Super 8s Qualifiers where they will fight for Super League status along with Widnes, Catalans, Warrington and the Championship’s top four teams.
