Can 6/1 Rovers shock the Champions ?

A bumper weekend of Super League this week  with 4 games live on the television.

Leeds kick off the weekend on Sky tomorrow as they entertain newly promoted Hull KR.
Whilst the Rhinos were getting of to the perfect start to the season with a win at Warrington, Rovers were comfortably  beaten at home by Wakefield.
It’s no surprise that the Robins are big  odds to pull off a shock, Super League sponsors Betfred give Rovers a 16 point start on the handicap.
It’s hard to see anything other than a home win but Leeds are unbackable at 1/10 to collect a 2nd win of the season, an away win is 6/1,  but surely Hull KR will be determined to improve on last week’s poor display and stay inside a 3 score handicap.

Leeds head to Australia after the game to take on the Storm in the World Club Challenge and may have one eye on that,  and that may just keep the score down. The Rhinos are notorious for just doing enough.
A home win by around 11-15 points is where I see this ending up and I’m sure Coach Brian Mcdermott will settle for that with the big one only 8 days away.

Ryan Hall scored an early contender for try of the season last week and he looks the pick for 1st tryscorer,  if Leeds run riot the spotlight could be on Richie Myler on his home debut and he would be my man of the match pick.
Rovers fans can get 4/1 that Danny Mcguire scores a try against his old club, albeit at Elland Road not Headingley . Bear in mind though the crazy decision by Sky to let fans pick man of the match, with 20 minutes of the game left if you’re having a go at the man of the match.

One other game tomorrow sees Warrington concede a 6 point start at Huddersfield.
The Giants started well at Hull last week before capitulaing in the second half and are around 2/1 to win this. Wire pushed Leeds all the way last week and could have won but for Ryan Atkins swallow dive and I can see them winning this, mind you I’m not sure 4/9 is good value given their troubles last year in what should be a very tight game.
Neither side really appeals on the handicap but if pushed would just prefer Huddersfield getting the 6 points start.

Friday’s live game comes from Belle Vue where Salford are the visitors.
The Red Devils were badly beaten at home to Wigan last week and it’s no surprise to see them given a 10 point start on the handicap.
Again it’s hard to argue a case for an away win given Wakefields impressive start at Craven Park last week, where a Tom Johnstone hat trick inspired them to a comfortable win.
Trinity will be looking to better last year’s 5th place and can justify odds of around 1/3 by winning this by 16-20 points.
Salford look like they’re in for a long season but their fans can get odds of around 11/4 if they think they can win this one.

It has to be fit again Tom Johnstone for the 1st try and captain Danny Kirmond would be my man of the match pick.

Wigan take on Hull FC on Saturday morning in Australia. The black and whites are given a 6 point start in a game where I’d struggle to seperate the 2 sides.
The value has to be Hull on the handicap,  in what should be a tight encounter.
It’s hard go predict how either side will go on the other side of the world but whilst 1/2 Wigan may just pinch this, I  can’t see more than a score in it either way. both sides started with comfortable wins last week and FC are around 7/4 to repeat their Challenge Cup Final win over Shaun Wane’s side.
Wigan by 1-5 points is about how I see this ending up so maybe Hull on the handicap is the value.

I’ll have a look at the weekends other games on Friday, next week is the World Club Challenge, as always please gamble responsibly.
