10/3 Rovers to win at Huddersfield ?

Huddersfield and Hull KR kick off the Rugby League weekend as they clash in front of the Sky Cameras on Thursday.

Both sides have had a difficult start to the season but the Giants doubled their taly for 2018 with an impressive win at Widnes last Friday , meanwhile Rovers were losing a very tight game in Perpignan.

These sides have only won 3 games between them this season and with only 2 wins from 5 it’s very surprising to see Huddersfield very short at 2/9 to win this. In fact the Giants are asked to concede a 12 point start on the handicap and you have to think the Robins can stay inside that.

I actually think odds of 10/3 for an away win are far too big for any side at the John Smith’s Stadium but Rovers short turnaround from Perpignan on Saturday has to be a worry.
They only lost by 2 points against, admittedly, a very poor Dragons side  but I don’t see Huddersfield being 10 points better than that. Rovers were also beaten by only 9 points at Leeds.

Maybe it’s not the stand out tie of the weekend but a winner is a winner and there are worse 10/3 than Hull KR to win here.

England star Jermaine Mcgilvary would be my pick at 8/1 for the 1st try and Brough at 8/1, who’s just signed a new contract, would be my pick for man of the match in Giants colours.
10/3 is a big enough price for an away win so you don’t need to pick an away man of the match, but if pushed I’d just favour Danny Mcguire at 14/1 over Knights call up Chris Atkin at 12/1.

Game  of the weekend comes from Langtree Park on Friday where Leeds are the visitors.
In contrast to Thursdays game these 2 have only one defeat between them, and could be the 2 sides that contest the Grand Final in October.

Unbeaten Saints are very short at 2/7 to win this, in what is a tough game to call.
Leeds only defeat this year was the week after returning from Australia but they certainly haven’t hit full form yet.
Saints on the other hand have looked the best side in Super League so far with a big pack and exciting backs, with Barba and Percival in particular in great form.
Percival scored a hat trick at Warrington last week and he has to be the pick at double figure odds for the 1st try.

Whilst Leeds will gradually improve as the ground gets firmer I do fancy the hosts here,  but 8 points is too many to concede on the handicap so you’ve got to fancy the Rhinos to stay inside that, especially as Saints have Walmsley out.
A home win by 1-5 points is where this could end up, in what should be a tight low scoring affair. Best value could be a Saints win by 1-12 points at around 15/8.

With the game dominated by the forwards Roby would be my man of the match pick, his opposite number Parcell would be my pick in Rhinos colours, in fact who wins the battle at dummy half between the best 2 9’s in Super League will go along way to deciding the outcome.
